 Abstract

The article examines the legal basis for the protection of genomic data in domestic and foreign legislation. Recent advances in biomedical technologies determine the security of citizens ' genomic data. The Russian Federation is developing its own system for ensuring the security of this type of information. However, many issues related to the storage and control of access to genetic information have not yet been sufficiently developed and fully resolved. The circulation of biomaterials and information obtained from the genome is regulated in many countries around the world. There are currently no direct rules in the Russian Federation. The article shows the disadvantages of modern legal regulation. The article emphasizes the need to establish criminal liability for improper use, storage and protection of genomic data of citizens. As well as the introduction of special mechanisms for the legal protection of genetic information.
